Outpatient Services
Each of our Adult and Adolescent Outpatient Programs offers a safe and structured setting where patients can get the help they need. Read more about each program below.
Adult Programs
Each of the following programs is available as a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) or Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP):
- Partial Hospitalization Program: A highly structured intensive day program that meets 5 days per week, 5 to 6 hours each day.
- Intensive Outpatient Program: For those needing less structure, patients participate in a maximum of 11 hours per week in any combination of half and/or full-days.
Adult Day Hospital Program
The Adult Day Hospital Program treats individuals with severe and/or persistent psychiatric conditions. Patients benefit from our integrative approach that uses patient-specific cognitive/behavioral and psychodynamic techniques.
Adult Intensive Program
The Adult Intensive Program provides treatment for patients dealing with work problems, environmental stresses, family/relationship difficulties, and grief and loss. Participants learn and practice coping skills to manage symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Adult Outpatient Program
The Adult Outpatient Program is lower in intensity, so patients attend fewer hours per week. Patients 18 years and older receive help adjusting to and coping with life events, loss (i.e. death or physical incapacitation), or with disabling emotional disorders.

Adolescent Programs
This structured day program treats adolescents with psychiatric illness as well as those dealing with alcohol/substance abuse and eating disorders. Patients participate in therapeutic group activities to address emotional problems and family issues. Through coordination with the Berkeley Unified School District, patients continue their studies while attending our program.
Adolescent Eating Disorder Track
Adolescents with eating disorders are often subject to depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. As an addition to either the partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient program, this track provides a separate, intensive focus on eating disorder issues.

- Patients receive assessments from a registered dietician and an eating disorder specialist, and they participate in short-term therapy two times per week.
Dual Diagnosis Track
Patients suffering from two disorders such as substance abuse or dependency problem and a co-existing psychiatric disorder need the expertise of mental health and chemical dependency health care professionals.
- This track integrates them through a continuing cycle of educational and therapeutic sessions that meet weekly as a separate track.
